Toby pulled Shanks back to the other side of the boat and used a freshly unconscious attacker's body to cover Shanks so as to protect him from future harm. The ship had been untied from the dock and so she was beginning to drift further and further from the dock. Toby ran to the side of the ship and, with the nearby pole, pushed the dock as far as he possibly could. This caused two main effects. One, the rest of the rioting crowd was kept on the dock, too fearful to jump for the ship, and two, all of the rioting crowd that was on the ship began to fight even more fiercely because they knew it was them who had to exact revenge for some person's wife's friend's husband. Toby took his new weapon, the pole, and began bonking enemies' noggins, causing unconsciousness, disillusionment, or incredible annoyance and frustration.
[[Riley, what do you think about attempting to move this back to a Forum, like we did before? I feel that I can get more into the story when it's in a thread... if not, I understand, but I was just wondering. I'd say we can move this back to Google Wave when we are both back in School or at least in the same Time Zone to optimize posting speed.]]

Miffed that he had just been dragged from a fight, Shanks resurrected to his feet scolding, "Now, who the devil..." He then stammered around and fell against the opposite rail from the mob. He felt his head and discovered a great lump. He checked his hand for blood and found a small portion. "Oh, boff!" He jumped up to his feet again and resumed barking commands, not having a clue what he was saying. "Hoist the sail and tie the things! Fasten those cloisters and cast off the wellies!" [[Well, I don't mind doing either one, but I know it'll be easier to stick with one or the other. By the way, the strong hands grabbing Shanks was supposed to be a segway for a new character to join. np though.]]

Toby chucked the pole to one side, knocking over two friends and one enemy. He then was bashed on the back of the head by some cowardly assailant. Yelling a few words which I won't write, Toby became enraged. He turned to the skinny, stupid-looking pestering soul who suddenly realized the foolishness of their bold move and dropped the cudgel which he had been holding. Toby's eyes bulged as he reached down, picked up the cudgel and slammed it into his opponent's head so hard that it hurt his hand to hold the cudgel when it met its target. This caused Toby to become even more angry and he simply began swinging wildly around yelling and crying over the pain of his hand and head.
...little did he know that nearly all of the baddies had been beaten down by this point. Once the rest of the crew calmed Toby down his Friendly KO count had reached a nice number thirteen. He'd have to deal with the bitterness of those actions later...

As soon as Shanks had heaved himself back onto the ship after being cudgeled off by Toby, he ordered, "All but the crew must be thrown overboard! Ahahahaaagh!" He had forgotten that the ship was not even thirty feet from shore.
Holding his head, Shanks stammered across the deck muttering, "Toby, Toby, Toby." He opened his eyes to see the the great demon dominater in Toby's hands. "What in the malicious minglin' at the mermaid's morgue is that?! The club was nearly the size of Toby. "Toby!! I thought some goon was swinging you around his head!"

((I had already chucked the pole away, but okay... ) Turning to face his captain, Toby's friend KO count reached fourteen. After hearing the sound of pain from his fellow crew member, Toby tossed the large pole overboard and saluted his captain. "Aww, Cap'n you shuldn't 've been worried 'bout 'ol Toby. 'Ow are you feelin'?" The ship had begun to drift the direction of the open sea and so the crew, bewildered at the events of the day, began to set sail and prepare for a voyage.

(((...no you didn't! > ))) Shanks put his hand on Toby's shoulder and answered, "Toby m'boy, I've never been better." Fully expecting to have fainted after saying something so contradictory to his prior luck, Shanks shrugged and shouted to the ship's crew, "Cast off all surviving waylayers and set course for open freedom!" He turned back to Toby with a wild smile and heartily said, "We're out to sea again, Toby!" He and Toby walked to the bow of ship and faced the cold, ocean blast. After several minutes, Shanks frowned and asked, "Toby,... what in the coral communities' cantankerous kid's kite strings are we going to do out here?"

((They had kites back then? lol))
Toby crossed his eyes whilst thinking, for they often did this which was caused by Toby's lack of a significant brain, and began to conjure up some sort of thought that he figured might suffice...
"Well... uhm... remember what we 'ad been listenin' to in ol' Yonkers' tavern? The Legendary Cannon? Said to 'ave the ability to blow up 'ole ports by only 'alf a dozen shots?"
Something then dawned on Toby as he was speaking...
"What if sweet Bessy's brother was in the group that attacked us on th'a pier?! She'd never even 'fink of courtin' me..." Toby suddenly became very sullen and sat down on the deck, head in his hands...
[[Bessy is a large woman who hates Toby's guts. She, somehow... is incredibly attractive to Toby, and her brother desires to beat Toby until he resembles the insides of a rotten tomato. Bad spot for Toby? Methinks... can logic thwart true love in Toby's mind? Doubt it.
Perhaps we pursue the cannon? And then Bessy? *chuckles]]

Shanks looked down at his morbid little friend. He stepped behind him quietly saying, "Poor Toby." Then he wound up for a sound kick in the sad man's pants and prepared a heart shattering speech. Just as the Toby-backside-bound-foot was about to initiate it's horrific charge, the sound of four cannons boomed through the night air. As the cannon balls whizzed just overhead, Shanks looked down at Toby and gushed, "Ah... poor, poor Toby. We must focus on what is before us." He cracked a large, gold-toothed grin.
He patted his head. "Run along now. And get us out of here!!"

Toby, completely distracted by cannons and orders, leaped to his feet and ran to hurry up the crew in getting some distance between the fort, harbor, and meanies and the grand duo of Shanks and Toby. He attempted to help a few men get the main sails set (although, in the end he probably did more harm then good). The other sailors began to appreciate Toby in a way though. He was very kind-hearted, even though he was a moron. A couple of men muttered something about swimming back to shore, but one of them, Silas, answered the mutterings with something along the lines of...
"Another campfire and a few nights in prison for brawling compared to an adventure filled with excitement and possible combat? Adventure. No doubt. That's what I'll choose..."
Toby overheard this and smiled. 'Adventure' he thought to himself. 'Yes, please. I'll take two!'

Shanks overheard the men also. He thought, "I am bloody famished!" He stomped below decks in his weathered leather Captain boots to see what there could be to plunder. He announced in a loud voice, "The new Captain wishes for FOOOOOD!" He then heard the last sound in the world he thought he would ever hear. "Hello?" Came the sultry tone of a lady's voice. Shank's face contorted. "What in the horrendous herald of hell's house of harlo..." A feminine leg stretched into the hall out of one of the small cabins. Shanks was no more affected by feminine wiles than by the noose. He marched toward leg of this fleshly container of endless trouble muttering the whole way, "I will be havin' nary a merry skank aboard me jolly..." A pretty head poked out. [What think ye of Julia joining this?? This girl could be an unwanted part of the crew Shanks is trying to get back together. Or whoever Julia wants her to be.]

[[I'll ask her, lol. Still working on her. She might be up for it though!]]
Toby walked over to Silas and shook hands with him.
"I be called Toby." He said, "What's your name?"
"Silas." The pirate replied with a bit of a grin on his face. He looked left and right to make sure the rest of the crew were at work getting things done and he leaned in to speak to Toby closer. His breath smelled of garlic, a fruity kind of whiskey, and... bacon.
"D'ya know where we're headed, ol'Tobes?"
Toby leaned even closer, causing the situation to become somewhat awkward. He took a deep breath, then expelled it. He paused. Looked left and right. Expelled another large breath. Then said, as if it was a huge secret...
"...nope... but where did you get th'bacon?" Toby smiled.
Silas pulled out a strip of bacon from his pouch and handed it to him. Toby marveled at the man, thinking that he had conjured it right there.
"...but if I were to guess, Silas, I'd say we're headed to find the Legendary Lost Canon of Doom from Hell with Spikes... or something along those lines. Cap'n Shanks has a good mind to use that and pillage various ports and seaside villages. Plunder, steal, adventure, death, killing, and things like that. You could ask him for more details though."
Silas said he would and headed down to below the deck...

Upon eye contact with this voluptuous feline, Shanks shivered. He promptly whirled around with his hands in the air howling, "Tooooobyyyyyy!!!!" He met the ladder to from the hold to the main deck with his chin and shin. "Dargh! Toby, we have an unquelled quandary!" Nearly panicking, he clumsily stumbled up the stairs as if an undead relative was chasing him.
As if he had made it to the impregnable safety of his bed, he fell face first onto the wooden deck. He panted, "I... I made it." He lifted his head to see Toby and some unknown friend of his... and behind them, a massive, white sail.
He heaved himself up and stared, mouth open. "Omnipresent orcas of ominous oppression! It's the bloody British navy! All hands on dec... oh, you're all here. All hands to battle stations! All hands must be doing SOMETHING!!! I do not want to see one idle hand!!"
The ship came alive with clambering and shouting. Before two minutes were up, the ship was prepared to fight. And there was not one idle hand.

Toby was wringing his hands. There was still not one idle hand. He loaded up his two pistols and made sure his sword was ready. He began to growl a little as he looked at the incoming British Navy rig.
The enemy did not seem to be Aggressive though. They were simply sailing up next Shanks' Ship and attempting to communicate.
"Cap'n, perhaps we should wait before actually firing on them..." Toby attempted some sort of placating reason.
