I'm sure what I'm actually wanting to do with this idea. I have been reading Twilight (*pauses time to explain his reasoning*) I am preparing to become an English teacher for at least a short amount of time. In desiring to be prepared and equipped for literary discussions with high schoolers (especially high school girls) I have decided to be knowledgeable with some of the most influential books in our teenage/adolescent culture....and it has sparked my imagination with story concepts such as: - Protagonists with an intense need for self-control and self-denial
- A sort of discorded unity with the main group of a story (where there are strong disagreements or at least struggles)
- Characters that are completely understandable once you get inside their minds; however, when you see their actions from outside their line of thoughts, you can see how twisted they truly are being (not that all the characters will be twisted...)
That's my basic idea. I am planning on placing this story within the basic parameters of the Twilight saga in that the characters can be vampiric or human (I'm leaving werewolf out for now) and that they will act basically along the lines of the characters in the Twilight saga.

My mom and sister made me watch the first Twilight (bonding or whatever. ) last year or so. I just couldn't get over the fact of how mythologically incorrect it was (considering it's so strongly based in folk lore and legends). --- Those points aside, the story is okay I guess. I've read better love-stories in different fanfics that I've read. I do like those points you made though: " Protagonists with an intense need for self-control and self-denial A sort of discorded unity with the main group of a story (where there are strong disagreements or at least struggles) Characters that are completely understandable once you get inside their minds; however, when you see their actions from outside their line of thoughts, you can see how twisted they truly are being (not that all the characters will be twisted...)" --- On a side note, what kinda English class you teaching?

I'm teaching three 7th grade English classes (grammar, etc...) and one Research Class (basically, teaching them how to write essays, research papers, etc...). I'm guessing it's more of a Writing class than a Research class, but whatever they want to call it -- I'm teaching it. And then I'm teaching my speech courses --- Mythologically Incorrect... fascinating. Stephanie Meyers has created her own set of Universe Laws (granted she places her universe in our world with our city names; however, she has created her own version of the creatures and so it is her universe). In the books she explains that humans have preconceived notions concerning vampires and werewolves (mostly contrived from Hollywood movies [which, in all honesty, can we really say that we trust Hollywood for ANYTHING 100% truthful?]). The cloves and crosses and whatnot for vampires was actually a ruse created BY a vampire in Italy (good move, imo) and is used for his own benefit (he pretends his city is completely clean of vamps). So, that's the "insider's scoop" for the mythological incorrectness. --- In this story, I'm thinking of having four main characters as of now. I want to create a solid baseline that I want for this story, then I'd be willing to have others post in the thread. Characters: - Levi (semi-protagonist): Vampire, used to work for humane society and so his compassion and morality has followed him through the change and has been magnified. He is training himself to steer clear of human-feeding, and as such has to hunt animals or search for other means and methods to feed. Levi is very short (4' 10")
- Dorian: Vampire, more of a passionate chap. Sees the honor in Levi's way of living, but is seriously struggling through it. Big chap (6'4")
- Rachel: Vampire, very practical, semi-seductress type. Very used to getting her own way and very manipulative and sly when she doesn't. (Not a whiner, but a schemer) Taken in by Levi when she began to turn, but hasn't been with him long.
- Adalwin (semi-antagonist) Vampire, believes he is something of an evangelist to the masses. Also opposed to neck-biting of humans; however, he has found a solid way to curb his appetite.
That's my lineup for right now. I'll post the first post in a bit.

Hmmm... maybe those English classes might discover some more writers for here. ^^ --- Awww... :c The crosses, garlic, and stakes made it cool. That and Vampire Hunters. :3 --- I'm liking the characters, but will there be any normal humans? Maybe some type of Anti-Vampire group (guarding the civilians and stuff)?
My girlfriend lent me this one magna about Vampires she has. It was full of some interesting ideas, such as two groups of people, the Day Class and the Night Class (As in social classes. not school). Day Class is just normal people. Night Class is vampires. There are a division of guard/police that keep the Night Class from attacking the Day Class as well as keeping the secret that Night Class is vampiric. It sticks kinda close to the old stories, but deviates into the realm of magic a bit. Maybe we could take some ideas from it? -shrug-
((Also, how did you do those bullet-points? If I hit tab it just highlights the next button. :l))

{list} [/li][li] [/li][li] [/li][li] [/list]
(Change the {}'s for []'s)
I do like the idea of having a Guard that differentiates the Day & Night. Perhaps as we progress the story a bit then we could introduce that group.
For now... I'll get the vampire story off the ground, then we could add in characters as we go. I'm a fan of having characters that we come across in the story becoming some of the main players in the story. (AKA, one of the characters talks to some nurse who then in turns becomes another main character).
Does that make sense?

Those few minutes are lengthening... The idea has been on my mind; I think I simply need a final section of time where I can listen to some really good music and just get into the idea thoroughly. It will come.

I've recently been turned off to Vamps. I saw Dark Shadows and I am taking a long break from Vampires. Nasty creatures... and I feel as though I've been somewhat scarred. So, I'm moving this beast back to the Idea Tank where it shall stay for now.

Play some Oblivion and punch vamps in the face (or just hunt them like you are supposed to, but eh. Whatever). Slowly brings them back from the Hollywood take on them.
